Groton-New London Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving New London, Groton and the surrounding Mystic Region of southeastern Connecticut. Established in 1929 as the first state-owned airport in Connecticut, it is located in the Town of Groton about seven miles from New London's city center.
The airport operates two asphalt runways of 5,000 and 4,000 feet, supported by a taxiway system, hangars, aircraft parking aprons, an instrument landing system and an FAA air traffic control tower. Its primary role is serving general aviation, business, recreational and tourist-related travel, including corporate jets and private charter flights, and it is home to an Army National Guard aviation unit.
