Grand-Santi Airport (GSI)

Grand-Santi Airport is a small airfield serving Grand-Santi, a commune on the Lawa River in western French Guiana, close to the border with Suriname. It provides an air link for a riverside community that is otherwise reached mainly by river and air.

The airport has a single asphalt runway of about 1,000 metres, suitable for light aircraft. Located roughly 1 km northeast of the village, it supports domestic connections within French Guiana, and regional operators have provided scheduled flights linking Grand-Santi with Cayenne, Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni and Maripasoula.

Because road access is limited in this forested interior region, the airport plays an important role for residents, freight, health-related travel and visitors moving along the Lawa and Maroni river basin. The short distance to the village makes onward connections straightforward.

Passenger facilities are basic, with a compact terminal used for check-in, waiting, baggage reclaim and freight. Travelers should arrange onward transport in advance, as services around the airport are limited.
