Godman Army Airfield is a military airfield serving Fort Knox in Hardin County, Kentucky. It supports Army aviation units, transient military aircraft and limited general aviation operations rather than scheduled commercial passenger service.
The site has deep aviation history: it became Kentucky's first airfield in October 1918 when it was built for the 29th Aero Squadron, and it is named for Lieutenant Louis K. Godman, who died in an aircraft accident in September 1918. The present main hangar and runways were constructed in 1941, and the field has supported training and operational missions ever since.
Located about one mile west of Fort Knox, the airfield has two asphalt runways and is positioned roughly 38 miles southwest of downtown Louisville. Road access links it to Fort Knox, Radcliff, Elizabethtown and the wider Louisville metropolitan area.
