Glendale Fokker Field Airport (GWV)

Glendale Fokker Field is a small, private-use airfield in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, situated along the Ohio River near the town of Glendale and close to Moundsville. It does not handle scheduled commercial service; its operations focus on light aircraft, local aviation and recreational flying.

The airfield takes its name from the area's early aviation history. A Fokker aircraft assembly plant opened in nearby Glen Dale in 1928 and built the Trimotor F-10A airliner before closing in the early 1930s, with an adjacent grass landing strip serving the factory. The present field, listed by the FAA as activated in May 1940, continues that aviation legacy.

The airport has a single turf runway, 01/19, approximately 2,600 feet long, and no control tower or passenger terminal. Operations are unattended and restricted to private use, so landing requires prior permission.

Glendale Fokker Field lies essentially within Glendale, about 3 km from Moundsville and roughly 27 km south of Wheeling. Access is by local roads, and passengers using scheduled airlines typically continue to larger airports such as Wheeling Ohio County Airport or Pittsburgh International Airport.
