Gjögur Airport is a small domestic airfield serving the Árneshreppur district in the Strandir region of Iceland's Westfjords. Situated in the village of Gjögur on the coast of Húnaflói bay, it provides an important air link for one of the country's most sparsely populated and remote areas.
The airport is connected to Reykjavík by scheduled Norlandair flights, which normally operate twice a week and take about 45 minutes. This service gives residents and visitors a practical alternative to long road journeys through the Westfjords and along Iceland's northwest coast.
The terminal is a compact single-storey building where check-in, waiting, arrivals and baggage handling take place in one combined area, with passengers boarding on foot from the apron.
