Ghazni Airport (GZI)

Ghazni Airport is a small airfield serving Ghazni, the capital of Ghazni Province in southeastern Afghanistan. The airport has historically functioned as a military and civil aviation facility and has been used jointly by Afghan authorities and international forces. Passenger services remain limited, and the airport primarily supports local and regional air access rather than large-scale commercial traffic.

The airport is located next to the main Ghazni-Kandahar Highway, close to Ghazni city, making it a practical point of entry for travelers heading into the city and nearby districts. Since 2013, redevelopment work has focused on the airport boundary wall, runway and terminal infrastructure, although a full modern passenger terminal has not been completed.

Road transport connects the airport with Ghazni city centre and surrounding areas, with taxis, private transfers and rental vehicles providing the main onward travel options. The short distance to the city makes it relatively easy for arriving passengers to continue their journey.

Because facilities are limited, travelers using Ghazni Airport should plan practical arrangements in advance, including transportation, baggage and any operator-specific check-in or security requirements.
