About Captain Germán Olano Moreno Air Base

Captain Germán Olano Moreno Air Base is a Colombian military airfield located in Palanquero, near Puerto Salgar in the department of Cundinamarca. The installation belongs to the Colombian Aerospace Force and is home to Combat Air Command No. 1, positioned along the Magdalena River opposite the city of La Dorada.

Officially inaugurated on 27 August 1933 as the national airport of La Dorada, the base has a long history in Colombian aviation. Today it functions primarily as a military air station serving central Colombia rather than as a scheduled commercial airport.

The airfield sits about 2 km north of Puerto Salgar and roughly 7 km from La Dorada. Road connections continue toward Honda and other Magdalena Medio towns, while Bogotá is approximately 180–200 km to the southeast depending on the route.

Because access to the military installation is restricted, public passenger facilities are limited. Travelers heading to Puerto Salgar, La Dorada or the surrounding region generally continue by road using taxis, private transfers, rental cars or pre-arranged group transport.
