General Juan N. Álvarez International Airport is the main airport serving Acapulco and the Guerrero coast, and one of the largest international airports in Mexico's southern Pacific region. Located about 26 km southeast of the city centre, it plays a central role in tourism and provides domestic links alongside seasonal and charter international services.
The airport is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA). A modern two-storey passenger terminal opened in May 2018, replacing the previous terminal, and serves both domestic and international scheduled flights, while a separate general aviation terminal handles private and non-scheduled operations.
Transportation to Acapulco and the surrounding bay area is available by taxi, rental car, shuttle and other road options, making onward travel to hotels, the Zona Dorada, Pie de la Cuesta and other coastal destinations relatively straightforward.
