Gambell Airport is a public airport serving the village of Gambell on the northwest cape of St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea, roughly 325 km southwest of Nome, Alaska. The airfield has a long history, having been used during World War II as Gambell Army Airfield for Lend-Lease aircraft transiting to the Soviet Union and as an emergency landing field. Today the airport operates a single asphalt-and-concrete runway, designated 16/34 and measuring about 4,500 feet, together with a small passenger terminal.
