About Furnace Creek Airport

Furnace Creek Airport is a public-use general aviation airport located inside Death Valley National Park in Inyo County, California. It serves private aircraft visiting the Furnace Creek area and the wider national park, and it does not handle scheduled commercial flights.

Situated about 1 mile northwest of the Furnace Creek Ranch area, the airport has a single asphalt runway (15/33) of roughly 3,000 feet. At 210 feet below sea level, it is the lowest-elevation airport in North America and among the lowest in the world. Operations are daytime-only and under visual flight rules, and pilots should use caution because the runway pavement is in poor condition.

The airport is unattended and has no fuel, no rental cars and no public ground transportation. Guests of The Oasis at Death Valley can use the resort's pickup shuttle, while other travellers should pre-arrange private transfers or collect a vehicle in a gateway city.

Las Vegas, Nevada, is the nearest major gateway at about 120 miles away, with Beatty, Nevada, closer to the park's northeast entrance. Private transfers, chauffeured vehicles and group transport can connect the airport to Death Valley destinations and onward hubs.
