Francisco Bangoy International Airport is the main gateway to Davao City and the wider Davao Region in southern Mindanao. It is the busiest airport on the island of Mindanao and one of the busiest airports in the Philippines, handling both domestic and international services.
The airport began operating in the 1940s as Sasa Landing Field and was opened for civil aviation in 1958. It was renamed in honour of Don Francisco Bangoy in 1960, and its current two-level passenger terminal opened in 2003, replacing the earlier terminal buildings.
Located in Barangay Sasa, about 10–12 km northeast of central Davao, the airport has a single integrated terminal that serves domestic and international flights under one roof. Passengers can continue into the city by metered taxi or ride-hailing services, and car rental is available for independent travel.
With lounges, cafés, shops and a food court, the airport provides a practical arrival point for visitors exploring Davao City, Samal Island, Mount Apo and the surrounding Davao Region.
