About Francis S. Gabreski Airport

Francis S. Gabreski Airport is a county-owned, joint civil-military airport serving Westhampton Beach and Long Island's East End. It primarily functions as a general aviation facility for private and charter aircraft and is also home to the New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing.

Located about 3 nautical miles (6 km) north of central Westhampton Beach and roughly 80 miles east of New York City, the airport provides convenient access to the Hamptons and nearby Suffolk County destinations. The site dates to 1941, when it was developed as Westhampton Beach Army Airfield during World War II; it later operated as Suffolk County Airport before being renamed in 1991 in honor of Colonel Francis S. Gabreski.

Passenger and aircraft services are provided through fixed-base operators on the airfield, including lounges, fueling, hangar space, and ground transportation. The airport is also a designated U.S. Customs and Border Protection point of entry for international general aviation arrivals.

With road access via local highways, taxis, private transfers, rental cars, and charter services, the airport offers a practical gateway for travelers heading to Southampton, East Hampton, Montauk, and other destinations across the region.
