About Flying Cloud Airport
Flying Cloud Airport is a general aviation reliever airport serving Minneapolis-St. Paul and the western Twin Cities suburbs from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. It is the busiest airport in the Metropolitan Airports Commission's reliever system and helps relieve traffic from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The airport opened in 1943 and traces its origins to a grass training strip used by the U.S. Navy during World War II. Today it operates three runways and is home to corporate jets, flight schools, maintenance facilities and several fixed-base operators.
Located about 10 miles southwest of Minneapolis and roughly 14 miles from downtown Minneapolis, Flying Cloud is reached by car via Flying Cloud Drive and nearby highways, with convenient access to Eden Prairie, Bloomington and the Lake Minnetonka area.
Because the airport focuses on private and business aviation, passengers travel through FBO lounges rather than a commercial terminal. Facilities include lounges, conference rooms, Wi-Fi, catering, fueling, maintenance and car rental, with taxis, ride-hailing and private transfers available for onward travel.
