About Falcon Field Airport
Falcon Field Airport is a general aviation airport in northeast Mesa, Arizona, owned and operated by the City of Mesa. It serves as a reliever airport for the Phoenix area, supporting private, business, recreational, and flight-training aviation while Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport handle commercial airline services.
Established in September 1941 as a World War II training base for British Royal Air Force and U.S. Army Air Corps pilots, Falcon Field was transferred to the City of Mesa as a municipal airport in 1948. The passenger terminal was renovated and reopened in December 2015 with upgraded waiting areas, restrooms, charging stations, and pilot facilities.
Located about 5 km north of downtown Mesa, the airport provides convenient access to the East Valley, including Scottsdale, Tempe, and surrounding communities. Travelers can connect onward by rental car, taxi, rideshare, private transfer, or chauffeur service.
