About Faa'a International Airport
Faa'a International Airport is the only international airport in French Polynesia and the main gateway to the island of Tahiti. It opened in the early 1960s and continues to serve as the primary arrival point for travelers continuing to Papeete, Moorea, Bora Bora and other islands of the territory.
Located in the commune of Faa'a, roughly 5–7 km west of central Papeete, the airport handles a mix of international flights and domestic inter-island services. Its single runway is used for domestic flights during the day and international flights that frequently arrive at night or in the early morning.
The terminal is organized into international and domestic areas within one main complex. Passengers can reach central Papeete by taxi, shuttle, rental car or bus, while those connecting to other islands transfer to domestic Air Tahiti flights or onward ferry services.
