Excursion Inlet Seaplane Base (EXI) is a state-owned, public-use seaplane base serving Excursion Inlet, a small community in Haines Borough on the northern shore of Icy Strait in Southeast Alaska. It was activated in 1959 and is managed by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities Southcoast Region.
The base has a single water landing area measuring 1,000 by 1,000 feet, oriented northwest-southeast, and provides access for floatplanes operating in the northern Southeast Alaska region. It is located roughly 40 miles west of Juneau, with Gustavus Airport about 8 nautical miles to the west as the nearest land airport with instrument approaches.
Excursion Inlet has no road connection to Juneau, so most travel is by seaplane, air taxi or boat. Scheduled and charter seaplane services link the community with Juneau, and the base supports access to local seasonal seafood processing operations, lodges and the nearby Glacier Bay National Park area.
