About Ensenada International Airport / El Ciprés Air Base

Ensenada International Airport / El Ciprés Air Base serves the Pacific coast city of Ensenada in Baja California, Mexico. Designated as Air Force Base No. 3 of the Mexican Air Force, the facility is primarily a military airfield and general aviation gateway rather than a hub for scheduled commercial flights.

The site was established in 1942 as El Ciprés Military Airfield and officially became an Air Force Base in 1955. It is named after Alberto L. Salinas Carranza, a pioneering Mexican aviator, and features a single asphalt runway designated 11/29 measuring 1,491 metres.

Located in the El Ciprés district, roughly 8–10 km from downtown Ensenada, the airport is reached mainly by taxi, pre-arranged private transfer or rental car along Federal Highway 1. It is a designated port of entry, so international private arrivals can clear immigration and customs on site.

Passenger facilities are compact and geared to general aviation, with a small terminal area, a basic cafeteria and limited services. The airport remains an important access point for the Valle de Guadalupe wine country and the surrounding Baja California coast.
