About Eldoret International Airport
Eldoret International Airport serves the city of Eldoret and Uasin Gishu County as the main aviation gateway to the North Rift region of western Kenya. Opened in 1995 and administered by the Kenya Airports Authority, it handles domestic passenger flights and has grown into an important regional cargo hub for fresh produce exports.
The airport is located about 13 kilometres south of Eldoret city centre, along the Eldoret–Kisumu road. A single terminal building handles arrivals and departures, while the airport's asphalt runway measures about 3,475 metres and sits at an elevation of roughly 2,150 metres.
Scheduled services connect the airport mainly with Nairobi and other domestic points, supporting both business and leisure travel across the region. Road access makes it practical to continue to Eldoret and nearby towns such as Iten and Kapsabet by taxi, private transfer or rental car.
With passenger facilities including banking, dining, lounges, prayer rooms and car rental, the airport supports a steady flow of travellers while also serving the surrounding agricultural and sporting regions.
