About El Gora Airport
El Gora Airport is a small airfield serving the town of El Gorah and the North Sinai Governorate in northeastern Egypt. It sits roughly 31 km east-southeast of El Arish, close to the border with Israel and not far from the southern end of the Gaza Strip.
Originally built by Israel as Eitam Air Force Base and inaugurated in December 1976, the airfield was later transferred to Egypt under the Camp David peace process and renamed El Gora. Today it is best known as the site of the Multinational Force and Observers North Camp, and it handles limited civil, light-aircraft and helicopter operations rather than regular scheduled passenger flights.
The airfield has two runways, 08/26 and 17/35, and its operational character is primarily institutional and military-related. Road connections link the site to El Arish and other parts of North Sinai, but visitors and authorized travelers should arrange access and ground transport in advance.
