About El Arish International Airport
El Arish International Airport is a small international airport serving El Arish, the capital of Egypt's North Sinai Governorate, on the Mediterranean coast of the Sinai Peninsula. It is the closest Egyptian airport to the Gaza Strip, located around 45 km from the Rafah Border Crossing.
The airport occupies a site of about 160 hectares and has a single runway of approximately 3,019 metres. Its compact terminal handles both international and domestic traffic and has a capacity of roughly 200 passengers per hour. The site has historically been used for military and civilian aviation, and in recent years it has also served as a reception point for humanitarian aid flights.
Located about 10 km south of central El Arish, the airport is reached by road, with car journeys to the city centre typically taking around 15–20 minutes. Taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and pre-arranged road transport provide onward connections.
