About Ein Yahav Airfield
Ein Yahav Airfield, also known as Sapir Airfield, is a small desert airfield in southern Israel's Arabah valley, between the Dead Sea and Eilat. It was constructed in 1970 and primarily supports general aviation and private flights.
The airfield had scheduled flights to the now-closed Sde Dov Airport in Tel Aviv between 1989 and 2012, operated by Elrom Airways. As of July 2019, there are no scheduled passenger services, and the airfield mainly handles light aircraft and private aviation.
The airfield has a single asphalt runway, 01/19, approximately 1,200 metres long, and sits below sea level across Highway 90 from Sapir, not far from the moshav of Ein Yahav.
Onward travel is by road, with private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars connecting to Ein Yahav, Sapir, Be'er Sheva, the Dead Sea area and Eilat. Public transport is limited in this remote area, so arranging ground transportation in advance is recommended.
