Eastern Sierra Regional Airport is the main air gateway for Bishop and the Owens Valley in Inyo County, California. Located about 2 miles east of downtown Bishop, it serves the wider Eastern Sierra region, including Mammoth Lakes, Big Pine, Lone Pine and seasonal access points to Yosemite, Death Valley and the surrounding national parks.
The airfield opened in 1940 and was used during World War II as Bishop Army Airfield before returning to civil control. Today the airport is a public-use facility operated by Inyo County and supports year-round general aviation alongside seasonal commercial service, with United Express flights linking the region to hubs such as San Francisco and Denver.
Passenger operations are handled through a single terminal building, while the main runway, Runway 12/30, measures about 7,498 feet and can accommodate regional jet aircraft. The airport functions as a convenient base for skiers, climbers, hikers, anglers and travelers heading into the Sierra Nevada.
