About Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport
Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport is a city-owned general aviation airport serving Temple, Bell County and the wider Central Texas region. It functions as a convenient gateway for private, corporate and business aircraft operations in the Killeen–Temple metropolitan area.
The airport opened in 1942 as Temple Army Air Field, a training base for the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. After the war it was transferred to the City of Temple and renamed in honor of two Temple aviators who died in the conflict.
Located about five miles northwest of downtown Temple along State Highway 36, the airport sits close to Interstate 35 and provides road access to Temple, Belton, Waco, Killeen and Fort Cavazos. It has two asphalt runways, including the 7,000-foot runway 16/34 and the 4,740-foot runway 3/21.
The airport's Temple Executive Air Center FBO opened in 2023 and offers passenger and pilot lounges, flight planning areas, fuel, maintenance services, T-hangars and free parking, supporting a practical and comfortable experience for private and business travelers.
