About Drake Field
Drake Field is a publicly owned general aviation airport serving Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas. Established in 1929 and named in 1947 for Dr. Noah Drake, the airport is owned and operated by the City of Fayetteville.
For half a century Drake Field handled commercial airline service, but that role ended in 1999 when Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) opened to serve the growing region. Today the airport serves private, corporate, charter and recreational aviation from a single terminal and fixed-base operator facility.
The airport lies about 3 miles south of downtown Fayetteville and provides convenient access to the University of Arkansas, the city center and nearby communities such as Springdale, Bentonville and Rogers. Ground transportation options include rental cars, courtesy vehicles, taxis and pre-arranged private transfers.
With a 6,005-foot runway, on-site fuel, hangars, pilot and passenger lounges and a restaurant, Drake Field functions as a practical general aviation gateway for business and leisure travelers visiting Northwest Arkansas.
