About Dinwiddie County Airport
Dinwiddie County Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, and the Tri-Cities region of central Virginia. Activated in April 1976, the airport supports private, corporate, charter, and instructional flying rather than scheduled airline service.
Located about five miles southwest of downtown Petersburg, the airport sits within easy driving distance of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and the greater Richmond area. It is owned and operated by the Dinwiddie Airport and Industrial Authority and features a single asphalt runway, Runway 5/23, measuring approximately 5,002 feet.
Passenger and flight operations are supported by an FBO terminal that was unveiled as the Tri-Cities Executive Terminal in 2022. The facility provides pilot and passenger lounges, 100LL and Jet-A fuel, hangars, tiedowns, aircraft maintenance, and flight instruction.
Ground access is straightforward by private vehicle, taxi, rental car, or pre-arranged transfer, with Petersburg just a short drive away and Richmond roughly 25 miles to the north.
