Dewitt Field – Old Town Municipal Airport (OLD)

Dewitt Field – Old Town Municipal Airport is a publicly owned general aviation airport serving Old Town and the surrounding central Maine area. The facility was activated in November 1942 and is owned by the City of Old Town. Located about 2 miles northwest of central Old Town, the airport covers roughly 360 acres and operates two asphalt runways, 4/22 and 12/30, as well as a water runway for seaplanes. It functions primarily as a base for general aviation, including private aircraft, pilot training and aircraft maintenance. The airport sits a short drive from the University of Maine in Orono and approximately 11 nautical miles northeast of Bangor, giving pilots convenient access to the region's largest city. There is no control tower; pilots coordinate on the common traffic advisory frequency and with Bangor Approach for instrument traffic. With 24-hour self-serve aviation fuel, tiedown parking, airframe and engine repair services and pilot instruction, the facility supports local and visiting pilots. Road access makes it easy to continue to Old Town, Orono, Bangor and other destinations in Penobscot County.
