About Delaware Coastal Airport
Delaware Coastal Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Georgetown and Sussex County in southern Delaware. Located about two miles southeast of Georgetown, the airport functions as a convenient gateway to the Delaware beach resorts, including Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island.
Formerly known as Sussex County Airport, the facility was renamed Delaware Coastal Airport in 2015 to reflect its coastal location and regional role. It is publicly owned by Sussex County and serves private, corporate, charter and general aviation flights rather than scheduled commercial airline service.
The airport has two asphalt runways: a 5,500-foot main runway and a 3,109-foot crosswind runway. A single general aviation terminal and administration building supports flight operations, and the on-site FBO, Georgetown Air Services, provides fuel, aircraft parking and pilot services.
Ground access is straightforward, with the airport located near Route 9 and offering rental car access; Georgetown is only a short drive away, while Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and other coastal destinations can be reached by road. On-site attractions include the Delaware Aviation Museum and the Jeffrey Ethell Memorial Aviation Library.
