About DeKalb Peachtree Airport
DeKalb Peachtree Airport is a municipal general aviation airport serving the Atlanta metropolitan area. Opened in 1941 on the site of the former Camp Gordon, it later operated as a Naval Air Station during World War II before returning to civilian control in 1959.
Today the airport is Georgia's second-busiest airport and the premier general aviation reliever facility for Atlanta, handling corporate jets, business aircraft, helicopters, and private aviation. It reduces congestion at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and supports more than 125 aviation-related businesses.
Located about 8 miles from downtown Atlanta, PDK offers three runways, a modern air traffic control tower, 143 hangars, and 24-hour security and fire and rescue services.
