About Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport
Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Dayton, Ohio and the surrounding Miami Valley. Located about 12 miles south of downtown Dayton in Miami Township, the airport functions as a reliever for Dayton International Airport and primarily accommodates corporate, private and personal aircraft.
Owned and operated by the City of Dayton, the airport covers approximately 527 acres. It was built in the early 1950s by industrialist Charles F. Kettering as Montgomery County Airport, purchased by the city in 1974 and later known as Dayton General Airport South before receiving its current name in 1995 to honor the Wright brothers.
The airport has a single asphalt runway, Runway 2-20, measuring about 5,000 feet, and operates without a control tower. Two fixed base operators provide fueling, maintenance, hangar space and other general aviation services, and the field is home to the Wright 'B' Flyer hangar museum.
Road access is convenient via North Springboro Pike and nearby I-75, placing Miamisburg, Springboro and central Dayton within easy reach by car or pre-arranged ground transportation.
