About Danilo Atienza Air Base
Danilo Atienza Air Base is a Philippine Air Force installation at Sangley Point on the northern tip of the Cavite Peninsula, beside Cavite City and facing Manila Bay. The airfield has a long military history on the site of the former U.S. Naval Station Sangley Point and was named after Philippine Air Force pilot Major Danilo Atienza.
It lies about 20 kilometres southwest of central Manila across Manila Bay and serves as a secondary gateway for Cavite and the wider Metro Manila area. Its single asphalt runway and compact passenger terminal support domestic turboprop and general aviation operations, helping relieve pressure on Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The modern passenger terminal opened in 2020 and can accommodate roughly 160 passengers at a time. The airport is connected to Cavite City and Metro Manila by coastal roads and the Cavite Expressway, with taxis, private transfers and rental cars available, and passenger ferry services linking Cavite City to Manila across the bay.
With its position near Manila and Cavite's growing communities, the airport offers a practical alternative for travellers moving through the Manila Bay corridor, while remaining an active military airfield for the Philippine Air Force.
