About Daniel K. Inouye International Airport

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is the main international and interisland airport serving Honolulu and the island of Oahu. Opened in 1927 as John Rodgers Airport, it was later known as Honolulu International Airport before being renamed in 2017 in honor of the late U.S. senator Daniel K. Inouye.

Located roughly 5 km (3 miles) northwest of downtown Honolulu, the airport is the primary gateway linking Hawaii with U.S. mainland cities, international destinations across the Pacific and Asia, and neighbor island flights. Passenger services are organized across three terminals: Terminal 1 for Hawaiian Airlines, Terminal 2 for most domestic and international carriers, and Terminal 3 for Mokulele Airlines commuter flights.

Travelers can continue to the city by taxi, rideshare, shuttle services, rental car or TheBus public transit, with Waikiki approximately 16 km (10 miles) away. The airport sits close to major roadways, making onward travel around Oahu straightforward.

With shops, dining, duty-free stores, lounges, Wi-Fi, visitor information counters and accessibility services, the airport serves as a convenient gateway for visitors arriving in the Hawaiian Islands.
