The airport lies roughly 2 km from Cuamba town centre. Scheduled commercial services are limited, and much of the traffic consists of charter flights, including services operated by Kaya Airlines and links to cities such as Nampula and Lichinga. Cuamba is an important railway junction, and many travellers combine air travel with onward rail or road journeys toward the Malawi border and the Nacala Corridor.
