About Croydon Airport
Croydon Airport (CDQ) is the local airport serving Croydon, a small historic goldrush town in the Gulf Savannah region of north-west Queensland. Also known by its ICAO code YCRY, the airport provides a practical air link for this remote part of Queensland.
The airport sits about 2 km southeast of the town centre and operates a single asphalt runway (09/27). It mainly handles general aviation, charter and aeromedical flights, supporting residents, station properties and visitors travelling through the Gulf Country.
Croydon lies roughly 530 km west of Cairns and about 140 km from Normanton along the Gulf Developmental Road, making the airport a useful option for reaching remote areas and nearby towns such as Georgetown and Normanton.
Facilities are basic, with a small terminal and limited on-site services. Most travellers arrange private transfers, taxis or a rental vehicle in advance to move between the airport and Croydon town or continue by road through the region.
