About Cox Field Airport
Cox Field Airport opened in August 1943 as a United States Army Air Forces training base and was later transferred to the City of Paris for civil use after the Second World War. Today it serves as the general aviation gateway for Paris, Texas, and surrounding Lamar County.
Located on a 1,600-acre site about five miles east of central Paris and adjacent to US Highway 271, the airport mainly handles private aircraft, corporate flights, and aircraft operated by local businesses and industries. It does not currently offer scheduled commercial airline service.
The airport's infrastructure includes a 6,002-foot asphalt primary runway, additional runways, a helipad, and a passenger terminal with a pilot lounge. Fuel services provide both 100LL avgas and Jet-A, with aircraft parking, hangars, and other general aviation support available on site.
Ground access is straightforward by car via US Highway 271, and taxis, rental cars, private transfers, and pre-arranged pickups connect the airport with central Paris and the historic town square a short drive away, making Cox Field a practical entry point for business and private travel in northeast Texas.
