Columbus Municipal Airport (OLU) is the public-use general aviation airport serving Columbus, Nebraska, and surrounding Platte County. Located about one mile northeast of downtown Columbus, it supports private, charter, business and agricultural aviation for the east-central Nebraska region. The airport was activated in August 1945 and is publicly owned by the City of Columbus. It has two runways: a 6,801-foot concrete runway (14/32) with instrument approach capability and a 4,135-foot turf runway (02/20). The airport operates without a control tower, with pilots using a common traffic advisory frequency. On-site services are provided through the fixed-base operator Avcraft, which offers fueling, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction and aircraft rental. Facilities include 100LL and Jet-A fuel, transient hangars and tiedowns, plus an automated weather observation system. The airport is a short drive from central Columbus and is reached by local roads near U.S. Highways 30 and 81, making it convenient for travelers continuing to Columbus and nearby communities.
