About Columbia Metropolitan Airport
Columbia Metropolitan Airport is the main commercial airport serving Columbia, South Carolina's capital city, and the surrounding Midlands region. The airport traces its history to the Lexington County Airport of the early 1940s and was dedicated as Columbia Metropolitan Airport in 1965.
The airport operates from a single passenger terminal with one concourse and handles domestic flights through major airlines to hubs such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago and New York. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility on the airport campus supports international cargo and private or charter aircraft clearances.
Located about eight miles southwest of downtown Columbia in West Columbia, the airport is reached by car, taxi, rideshare, rental cars, hotel shuttles, limousine services and The COMET public transit. This makes connections to the city centre, the University of South Carolina, Fort Jackson and nearby destinations relatively straightforward.
Travelers can use on-site parking, dining and coffee options, shops, free Wi-Fi and a USO center, along with accessibility services throughout the terminal.
