About Chute-Des-Passes/Lac Margane Seaplane Base

Chute-Des-Passes/Lac Margane Seaplane Base (YWQ) is a small public water aerodrome on Lac Margane, in the Chute-des-Passes area of Quebec's Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, Canada. It serves a remote part of the Péribonka River watershed, where access is otherwise largely by forest road or boat.

The base is seasonal, generally operating from mid-May until November, and sits at an elevation of about 1,310 feet (399 metres) above sea level. Because the site has no conventional terminal infrastructure, seaplane operations are arranged around the lakeshore and dock area rather than through a standard airport complex.

Located roughly 14 km from the small settlement of Chute-des-Passes, the aerodrome is used mainly for private, charter, work and recreation-related flying rather than scheduled airline service. It lies far north of the region's main towns, with Dolbeau-Mistassini and Saint-Félicien approximately 160 km to the southwest.

Travel to and from the lakefront base is normally organized by boat, private vehicle or prearranged transfer, often coordinated with the flight operator. Travellers continuing into the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region should plan onward transport in advance, as services in this remote area are limited.
