About Chino Airport
Chino Airport (CNO) is a county-owned general aviation airport located in San Bernardino County, about three miles southeast of downtown Chino. It is the largest non-commercial airport within a 20-mile radius and sits within easy reach of Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties, making it an important hub for private pilots, flight training, corporate users and aviation businesses across the Inland Empire and Southern California.
The airport traces its roots to Cal-Aero Field, where the Cal-Aero Flight Academy trained Army Air Forces cadets during World War II. The school closed in October 1944 after providing the United States military with more than 10,000 fighter and bomber pilots, and the airport later became a leading center for aircraft restoration and preservation.
Today the airport operates three runways and hosts three full-service fixed-base operators, maintenance, avionics, charter, aircraft interior and refurbishment businesses, plus flight schools. It is also home to the Planes of Fame Air Museum and Yanks Air Museum, which together preserve nearly 300 warbirds and vintage aircraft.
Located at 7000 Merrill Avenue, Chino Airport is reached by car via local roads and sits near Ontario International Airport, the Chino Valley and the region's major freeways. As a general aviation field, it is typically accessed by private aircraft, taxi, rideshare, rental car, shuttle or pre-arranged ground transportation rather than scheduled airline service.
