Childress Municipal Airport is a public-use municipal airport serving the city of Childress and the surrounding Texas Rolling Plains region. Opened in October 1942 as Childress Army Airfield, it was used by the United States Army Air Forces as a training base before being transferred to the city and converted into a municipal airport in 1945.
Located about 4 miles (7 km) west of central Childress, the airport primarily supports general aviation traffic, including private, charter, agricultural, and occasional military flights. It has a single active asphalt runway, Runway 18/36, measuring 5,949 by 75 feet.
Passenger services are handled through the on-site FBO, Boedeker Flying Service, which provides a passenger lounge, pilot facilities, Wi-Fi, and aviation fuel. The airport does not have scheduled commercial airline service, so most travelers use private aircraft, charter flights, or ground transportation.
