Chignik Lake Airport (KCQ)

Chignik Lake Airport is a state-owned, public-use airport serving the village of Chignik Lake in Alaska's Lake and Peninsula Borough. Activated in 1974, it provides an essential air link for a remote community with no road access, supporting passenger travel, mail and medical transport to regional hubs such as King Salmon.

The airport operates a single gravel runway, 8/26, measuring 2,800 by 60 feet, together with a small gravel apron for aircraft parking and boarding. There is no traditional terminal building, and the facility is unattended; passengers are met directly by the operating carrier on the apron.

Located on the Alaska Peninsula roughly a mile from the village centre, Chignik Lake Airport is reached on foot, by local vehicle or by ATV rather than by public transport or commercial taxi. Scheduled regional service by Grant Aviation connects the community with King Salmon and onward points including Anchorage.

Facilities at the airfield are minimal, with no shops, dining or public restrooms, so travelers should plan services in the village in advance. Weather can change quickly, and flights are often coordinated around regional conditions.
