Chicken Airport is a small state-owned public-use airfield serving the tiny community of Chicken in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area of eastern Alaska. Located along the historic Taylor Highway, it provides a practical gateway for visitors exploring the gold-mining country of the Fortymile region.
The airfield covers about 68 acres at an elevation of 1,640 feet and has a single gravel runway, 13/31, measuring 2,500 by 60 feet. It primarily supports general aviation, charter flights and remote-area access rather than scheduled commercial airline service.
The airport is reached by a short spur off the Taylor Highway and lies about 1 km from the centre of Chicken. Road connections continue to Tok, roughly 77 miles to the west, and toward Eagle and the Top of the World Highway into Canada's Yukon, making the airfield a useful stop for independent travelers in this remote corner of Alaska.
