Caviahue Airport (CVH)

Caviahue Airport is a small Andean airfield located about 6 km east-northeast of Caviahue, in Neuquén Province, Argentina. It serves the Caviahue–Copahue area, a high-altitude destination known for volcanic thermal springs and winter snow, but it no longer handles scheduled commercial traffic.

The airport functioned as a public airfield serving Caviahue until the late 1990s, then fell into disuse. Today it operates primarily as a private-use airstrip for charters, official movements and local flights, with a single asphalt runway aligned 04/22 and a reported length of around 1,600 metres.

Facilities are minimal, with a basic passenger shelter and no fuel or customs service. Because regular flights and permanent taxi stands are not available, most commercial travelers fly into Presidente Perón International Airport (NQN) in Neuquén city, roughly 360 km to the east, and continue to Caviahue by bus or car.

For those arriving on an authorized flight, the drive to Caviahue village normally takes less than 10 minutes in good conditions, while Copahue Thermal Spa lies about 18 km further into the mountains and may require pre-arranged winter transport.
