Caucayá Airport (LQM)

Caucayá Airport is a small regional airport serving Puerto Leguízamo, a river town in the Putumayo department of southern Colombia. It links the town with domestic destinations such as Bogotá, Puerto Asís and Florencia and acts as one of the main gateways to this remote part of the Colombian Amazon region.

The present airport site opened in the late 1980s, replacing an earlier runway that had served the town since the early 1950s. It operates with a single passenger terminal and one runway, with the state airline SATENA providing scheduled regional flights using ATR 42-500 and Harbin Y-12 aircraft.

Located approximately 2 km east of the town centre, the airport is a short drive from Puerto Leguízamo by taxi, moto-taxi or other local transport. Its position makes it convenient for travelers continuing to the town, the nearby river port and surrounding communities.

Facilities are modest, with basic waiting areas and limited passenger services reflecting the airport's regional role. Despite its small size, Caucayá is an important connection for residents and visitors traveling to this Amazon-border area where air and river transport are the main access routes.
