About Catalina Air-Sea Terminal Heliport

Catalina Air-Sea Terminal Heliport (SPQ) is a private-use heliport at Berth 95 in San Pedro, California, serving as the mainland gateway for helicopter travel to Catalina Island. Operated by Island Express Helicopters on land leased from the Port of Los Angeles, the heliport has supported passenger connections to Avalon's Pebbly Beach since it was activated in April 1978.

The terminal sits on the Port of Los Angeles waterfront, about one mile northeast of downtown San Pedro and roughly 25 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. From here, Island Express helicopters reach Avalon in about 15–20 minutes, while Catalina Express ferries depart from the same complex for the roughly one-hour crossing.

The 71,500-square-foot passenger terminal combines ferry and helicopter ticket counters with baggage handling, a restaurant, a deli, a lounge, an ATM and sightseeing kiosks. On-site parking is available, with free parking for the first hour.

Because the heliport is restricted to helicopter operations and landing requires prior permission, scheduled passenger flights are the main way travelers use SPQ. Ground connections include taxis, private transfers, rental cars and group vehicles, linking the terminal to San Pedro, the wider Los Angeles area and other Southern California destinations.
