About Cardiff Airport
Cardiff Airport is the main international airport serving Cardiff, the Welsh capital, and the wider South Wales region. Located in Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan, it is Wales' only major commercial airport and is owned by the Welsh Government.
The airport developed from a wartime airfield and has served civil flights at Rhoose since 1954, later becoming known as Cardiff Airport. Today it operates through a single passenger terminal, with arrivals and check-in on the ground floor and departures on the first floor.
Situated about 12 miles west of Cardiff city centre, the airport is reached by road via the A4226 and A48, by taxi and private transfer, and by the 905 shuttle bus linking the terminal with Rhoose Cardiff International Airport railway station for onward trains to Cardiff Central and Bridgend.
Facilities include restaurants, cafés, shops, a lounge, free Wi-Fi and accessibility services, making it a convenient gateway for leisure and business travellers arriving in or departing from South Wales.
