About Captain FAP Renán Elías Olivera International Airport

Captain FAP Renán Elías Olivera International Airport is the main airport serving Pisco and the wider Ica region of southern Peru. Although it also functions as a Peruvian Air Force base, the airport is designed to handle civil traffic and serves as an alternate for Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima during adverse weather. Its position makes it a useful entry point for travellers heading to Paracas Bay and the Nazca Lines.

A new three-level passenger terminal became operational in 2015, covering around 20,000 square metres with capacity for more than 2,000 people. The runway measures 3,020 metres and is classified as ICAO Category 4E, allowing wide-body aircraft operations. The airport is managed by Aeropuertos del Perú under concession.

Located about 4 km from the centre of Pisco, the airport is connected to the city and surrounding areas by road, with taxis and private transfers available for onward journeys. Paracas lies roughly 12 km to the south, making the airport a convenient starting point for coastal and desert excursions.

Today the airport mainly supports charter and tourist flights, including scenic flights over the Nazca Lines, while commercial scheduled services remain limited. Its modern terminal infrastructure nevertheless positions it as a strategic gateway for southern Peru.
