About Capital City Airport
Capital City Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, and the surrounding south-central Pennsylvania region. It functions as the designated reliever airport for Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) and supports private, corporate, charter and flight training operations across Dauphin, Cumberland and York counties.
Originally known as Capital Landing Field, the airport opened in the mid-1930s and served as Harrisburg's first airline airport. After scheduled commercial airline service moved to Harrisburg International Airport, Capital City Airport took on its present role as a dedicated general aviation facility.
Located in Fairview Township about three miles southeast of downtown Harrisburg, the airport is reached from Interstate 83 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, offering convenient road access to Hershey, York, Lancaster and the wider region.
The airport has two runways, a control tower and the SkyPort Aviation FBO, which provides passenger and pilot lounges, aircraft fuel, maintenance, hangar and tie-down space, and ground transportation coordination for continuing journeys.
