Cape Girardeau Regional Airport (CGI)

Cape Girardeau Regional Airport is the main commercial airport serving Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the surrounding southeast Missouri and southern Illinois region. It functions as a compact, low-stress gateway for travelers in the area, connecting the city with Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth through Contour Airlines, along with seasonal service to Pensacola.

The airport opened in 1943 as a U.S. Army Air Forces training field known as Harris Army Airfield and has since evolved into a city-owned, public-use facility. In 2024, it completed a nearly 20,000-square-foot passenger terminal designed for future growth, replacing a structure that dated to 1956. The airport has also reached primary airport status after surpassing 10,000 annual enplanements.

Situated about 8 miles (13 km) southwest of downtown Cape Girardeau in Scott County, Missouri, the airport is easily reached via Interstate 55. Travelers can continue into the city or nearby areas by taxi, rental car, private transfer, or personal vehicle, with free short- and long-term parking available at the terminal.

With a single terminal, short walking distances, quick security screening, free parking, a public restaurant, charging stations, family restrooms, and a quiet room, the airport offers a convenient, low-stress alternative to larger regional hubs for travelers beginning or ending their journey in southeast Missouri.
