About Cape Cod Gateway Airport
Cape Cod Gateway Airport is the main airport serving Hyannis, Cape Cod and the nearby islands. It handles scheduled commercial flights and general aviation, connecting travellers to Boston, New York and the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
Opened in 1928 and known for decades as Barnstable Municipal Airport–Boardman/Polando Field, the airport adopted the Cape Cod Gateway Airport name in 2021. Its current passenger terminal was completed in 2011, and the airport is owned by the Town of Barnstable.
Located about a mile north of central Hyannis, HYA is one of the most convenient entry points to Cape Cod. It sits close to the Hyannis ferry terminals serving Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, as well as hotels, beaches and resort communities across the Cape.
Travelers reach the airport by car via Barnstable Road, with taxis, local Cape Cod RTA buses, private transfers and rental cars available at the terminal. Its single-terminal layout keeps check-in, security and arrivals relatively quick and easy.
