Campbell Army Airfield is a military airfield located on Fort Campbell, a U.S. Army installation that straddles the Kentucky-Tennessee border near Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Clarksville, Tennessee. It supports Army aviation operations and is the home base of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
The airfield was previously operated as Campbell Air Force Base from 1947 to 1959 and today functions as a restricted-use military facility. It has two asphalt runways, including a long main runway capable of accommodating large military transport aircraft.
Because it sits within a secured installation, access is limited to Department of Defense ID cardholders and approved visitors, and civilian commercial flights do not operate from the field. Most commercial air travelers use Nashville International Airport, about an hour away, and continue to Fort Campbell by road via I-24.
On the ground, the airfield connects to the surrounding region by road, with Hopkinsville and Clarksville both within roughly 15-20 miles and accessible by private vehicle, taxi or pre-arranged transfer.
